Secret ingredient to applying screen covers to iPhones and iPads

Have you ever tried to apply the plastic screen covers to a smart phone or iPad?

What's your trick?

Here's what most people I know do...

"I take it to the Apple store and make someone there do it!"

Seriously? There has to be a better way and I think I may have found it.

3M Natural View screen protectors

I was recently sent 3M Natural View screen protectors to review for my iPad.

My first thought was how am I going to get it on there all by myself?

But the benefits were too good not to try:

less glare

scratch resistant

stay clean edges

less smudging from all the Angry Bird games the girls play

3M Has the Secret Weapon...Tape!

See the video created by 3M engineers on how to apply their screen protectors

And, it works!

Less bubbles and lint!

I received a set of 3M Natural View screen protectors for my iPad to review and I did NOT watch this video. However, the squeegee (that helps push bubbles out) is built right in to the packaging and made it really easy to do it myself!

So far I've noticed a little less smudging but it's not completely smudge-proof. I don't think anything is though. I have noticed less reflection, and the edges really do repel dirt! Magic? I have no idea - but considering I think so many 3M products (post-it notes, removable tape) are magic I wouldn't be surprised.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of 3M and received a Natural View Screen Protector to facilitate my review and a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate. Some of my new fave eco-friendly products and my Mom Central gig

So, I have a new gig. Well, not so new as I've been doing it since April. I'm now writing twice a week for Mom Central Goes Green.

You've seen lots of reviews and giveaways here that are sponsored by Mom Central. When they had a call for writers (a paid position) I applied and was accpeted!

The past few years I've dabbled more and more in the green lifestyle and many of the products I've been covering over there I've purchased on my own.

Here are just a few that I've written about lately:

Unbleached Natural Waxed Paper Sandwich Bags

I've traded in my plastic sandwich bags for these and LOVE them. We reused them over and over for dry snacks (chips, crackers, etc). Here's the full review over at Mom Central.

Biobag Compostable Trash Bags

Everytime I took out the kitchen trash I cringed. I've reduced the number of plastic bags around here by using reusable grocery bags and switching to paper bags for the kitty litter. So trash was the one place I would see plastic bag after plastic bag. I found Biobag at Whole Foods and feel much better when I bring out the trash. Read my full review at Mom Central.

Reusable Produce Bags

OK, I haven't tried these yet but they are next on my list. That's the 'other' plastic bag I haven't been able to completely get rid of. I will sometimes take one of my reusable grocery bags and designate one for produce but you still have to take the fruits and veggies out and put them on the dirty belt at check-out. Any of you purchased reusable produce bags that you love? Read the full article at Mom Central.

Do you have a suggestion for something I should cover over on Mom Central Goes Green? Do you have a favorite eco-friendly product? Let me know! And stop over there sometime and leave a comment when you get a chance :).

Cancer? You Look Mahvelous- Look Good, Feel Better turns 20!

I've done it, have you?
I have dressed up on a day when I either felt bad, or sad, or mad, and guess what? It made me feel better.

The founders of Look Good...Feel Better (www.lookgoodfeelbetter.org) had this in mind when they started the non-medical, brand neutral program to help cancer patients increase their self esteem as they battle their disease.

Look Good...Feel Better Celebrates 20 Year with a Makeover contest!

Submit your story of how the Look Good...Feel Better program helped you cope with cancer and be featured on the Women of Hope is Beautiful blog to help educate others who are still fighting their fight. In August, Look Good…Feel Better will choose five women with the most-compelling stories to receive a trip to New York City for a makeover an a trip to the DreamBall, a black-tie gala and the program's largest annual fundraiser, held each year in New York City!

Encourage your family and friends to visit the site, view the entries, and leave comments of support. And, know you are sharing your story with others who really need to hear it most.

Is a woman you know going through cancer treatment?

Take them to the Look Good...Feel Better site where there are lots of great make-up tips and even ways to cope with hair loss. Then check out the Before and After photos. They make ME feel good just seeing how they feel better!

There is so much information on the site including program locator. A wonderful resource for something that seem so simple, and yet can make all the difference. Giving someone the gift of feeling better about themselves really can affect what is going on inside.

Remember to change your filters, or have Filtrete remind you!

We ALWAYS forget to change our filters. We forget until the house is not cooling down like it should. We forget until we call ‘the guy’ who then comes out, changes the filters that are filthy, and charges us $300. We then swear we’ll remember to change them but we never do. Now, thanks to Filtrete and Mom Central, I just might remember!

I am going to sign up for the Clean Air Club on www.Filtrete.com to get a seasonal newsletter and reminder to change my filters! There are other ‘member’ benefits like a wallet card so I never forget which size filters I need, a Homeowners Guide to indoor air quality booklet, and special member promotions and rebates.

Plus, I’ve noticed my allergies picking up this year. I have new pillow protectors but what I didn’t realize is that sometimes my ‘cleaning’ efforts (including dusting and vacuuming) can increase irritating particles like mold spores, dust, and pet dander. This is where a good filter can help.

For more useful tips on how to create a healthy home and to sign up for the Clean Air Club so you remember to change your filters visit www.filtrete.com.

Checking on mine now,
Janine
