October 6th is National Noodle Day and We're Celebrating with P.F. Changs

Noodles for everyone!

Or, at least everyone in my family because I received a sweet package from P.F. Changs as a thank you for helping spread the word about National Noodle Day and the festivities they are planning in celebration.

I've had P.F. Chang's Home Meals before so I know how easy they are to make and how delicious they are as well. Plus, I don't need any other excuse to eat noodles for dinner - if it's noodle day then I'm eating noodles.

Riceworks - good snacking giveaway and confession

The New Whole Foods in Rockville is Open and Makes Me Feel Like Cooking!

Last week I was lucky enough to go to a preview of the new Whole Foods in Rockville and see all the cool new things they have going on.

One particular area of interest to me is the new cooking area.

A large wooden counter top where they feature something new to try each week (or day I can't remember) with iPads to help you find the ingredients and cooking instructions to fit your family's needs.

Plus there are these grinders and fresh grains that you can purchase by the bulk and then grind to make your own specialty four (wheat, corn, etc).

Then there are these huge stainless steel vats of things like flavored honey, infused olive oil, and agave syrup. Grab a bottle and a cork and fill 'er up!

Definitely make a trip over there ASAP! They have a great calendar of events, unbelievable goodies in the bakery (ask for the tea-infused cakes) and facial imaging technology (in the Whole Body area) that can recommend the products they have that will best help you with your skin's needs.

 All that and free parking in a garage underneath - keeping my car cool in summer and warm in winter.

You Don't Have to be a Hippie to like Melba Toast

The very first time I tried Old London Melba Toast I was maybe 7. My mother was going through what I can only describe as a "hippie" phase when it came to food. Out went the white bread and Twinkies and in came the brown (wheat) bread and carob chips. I have no idea who she was kidding with the carob chips since she LOVES good quality, dark chocolate as much as I do.

One of the few things she introduced that I LOVED was Melba Toast. It's light and crunchy with lots of flavor. Melba toast was great with cheese, peanut bugger, or just plain butter and jelly!

Old London has Healthy Snacks

Recently I received three packages of Old London snacks including Bagel Crisps, Melba Snacks and good old fashion Melba Toast (no added seasoning) to try. These are great snack options for my family as they are all low in calories with no trans fat and the melba toast has whole grain.

The girls loved dipping the bagel chips and round melba snacks into hummus along with fresh carrot and celery sticks. We also found out there were a very filling snack when paired with cheese and a piece of fruit. I'm trying to cut back on my bread intake these days so I devoured them with tuna, and along side my daily salad, instead of my usual sandwich on two slices of high-calorie bread.
