Hannah Montana Final Season on DVD!

The girls were thrilled when this review package came in the mail:

Hannah Montana Lives Forever

Click here to Buy on Amazon:  Hannah Montana Forever: Final Season

This special 2-Disc DVD set released March 8th covers the final season of the Disney Channel's popular show starring Miley Cirus as...Miley Stewart and her rockstar alter-ego, Hannah Montana. The DVD set has an exclusive alrenate ending plus lots of other extras including cast goodbyes and a special memory book!

Hannah's lessons make for a great gift

As we've seen Miley grow up and wrestle with having "the best of both worlds", each episode contains a little lesson for us all. Sometimes silly, sometimes serious, the secret that Miley hides and the way she has to balance both parts of her life offer a lot for a tween girls who is starting to struggle with finding out who she is among her friends and school mates. This is why I think kids fell in love with the show.

Even a rockstar makes mistakes, gets in trouble, fights with friends, and more.

Disclosure: I received the Hannah Montana Forever: Final Season 2-disc set at no charge for the purpose of this review. All opinions expressed here are my own and this post was neither approved nor reviewed prior to being published. Also, I have often found myself sitting and vegging in front of the TV with the girls watching a marathon of Hannah Montana episodes. If I didn't actually like the show, I would not have accepted a 2-disc set! Granted, it's not for everyone - especially those with boys, but you never know! They might enjoy it too! Review: The other Martha Goes to Washington for President's Day

Do you ever wish your pet could talk?

Tell you all about where they explored that day when you weren't with them? Maybe they could even help you get things done around the house (I'm all about a pet who could be useful)?

This was on our minds when we came across the book Martha Speaks at the library last summer. This is the story of a dog who learned to speak after eating a bowl of alphabet soup and the Twofer fell in love with Martha right away (closest thing they'll have to a dog in a loooooong time).

Then one day last fall we saw Martha Speaks on TV! I love the fact that it's on PBS (no annoying commercials) and they love that it's fills them up with big words.

Martha Speaks big words around Washington

A 2-part episode of Martha Speaks airs tomorrow (February 15, 2010) to honor President's Day. Martha is called on by the president to help him find a dog fit for the White House. Martha will introduce words like "neighborhood", "debating", and "volunteer" which don't seem like very big words until you have to explain them to a 6-year old. Then, they are VERY difficult. Don't believe me? Go ahead, try it.

Yes, right now. In the comments leave me an explanation of what those words mean without using other, similarly 'big' words. It's not easy.

More new episodes of Martha Speaks plus books and an iPhone app!

You can bet I'll be recording all the new episodes of Martha Speaks that will air next week (Feb. 15-19) on PBS (check your local station listing for times) for the Twofer.

Also, a new series of Martha Speaks books is now available including picture books, early readers and chapter books. In addition to vocabulary, the books cover topics important to Martha including pet adoption and animal advocacy.

Need vocab on-the-go? Check out the Martha Speaks iPhone app that has 4 games to introuduct vocabulary words on the go.

Want to buy Martha Speaks books? I recommend these:

Disclosure: I received a package of Martha Speaks goodies (plush toy, screener copy, book, stickers) at no cost. My family was already familiar and a fan of Martha Speaks prior to being contacted for this review. Opinions expressed here are mine and were not reviewed nor approved by PBS or prior to posting.

Curious George Holds a Special Place in My Heart

Here's a little something you might not know...

My grandparents were quite fabulous New Yorkers in their day and hung out with all kinds of cool people including... H.A. and Margaret Rey - the creators of Curious George. I actually have a signed sketch of George that was given to my Dad when he was little.

H.A. Rey Signed Original: Curious George Looks at the Stars

I lost my dad when The Twofer were just 3 weeks old, so the fact that they share a love for Curious George makes me feel like a little bit of my dad is with them. Even now at six, they still laugh and enjoy Curious George. Most recently we were given a review copy of Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas and they loved it! Even if they grow out of George, I know it will be something they pass onto their children.

What you will love about Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas:

The whole gang from George to The Man with The Yellow Hat to Hundley and Bill are there to help George celebrate Christmas. No matter how much good George tries to do, something always goes wrong... and often that is the silliest part. The music in the movie is great too (a A Very Monkey Christmas CD is available as well).

You might not care for this if:

You have children who are too old to appreciate George and his antics.

You don't celebrate Christmas because there is the whole countdown, tree buying, etc.

For our family, this was a great DVD to have to get us in the mood for the holidays. We love the classics for sure, but having something new to watch was great. And, as Curious George fan, this one holds a special place in my heart.

What's your favorite holiday show?
