Recently the Twofer and I had a chance to try Kellogg's EGGO Fiber Plus waffles.

The girls had the chocolate chip, and I sampled the buttermilk. What did we think? DEEELISH! You'll notice something VERY BIG is missing as the girls eat their waffles...

A few things to note about these waffles:

  • They not only taste really good, they offer 9grams of dietary fiber
  • The buttermilk waffles offer 35% of the daily value of calcium
  • The chocolate chip waffles offer 20% of the daily value of antioxidants

WIN Free EGGO Waffles AND a Starbucks giftcard!

One lucky reader will receive 2 boxes of Kellogg's EGGO Fiber Plus waffles (chocolate chip and buttermilk) as well as a Starbuck's gift card to really make it a good morning.

Deer Park has redesigned their bottles and Washington, DC will get the first look!

I love that Deer Park Natural Spring Water is launching a new bottle that is made from 50% recycled plastic (rPET) in an eco-friendly shape that uses less material!

These new bottles will be available in the Washington, DC and Baltimore area at first and have a "made wtih 50% recycled plastic" image on the label.

Want a free sample?

I have coupons for 20 readers for a free multi pack of Deer Park Natural Spring Water!

All you have to do is fill out the form below. I will choose 20 readers at random on Friday May 7th.

While I definitely choose reusable bottles first, I know there are going to be times when I can't avoid buying plastic bottles. Knowing the Deer Park bottles are made with 50% recycled plastic will make it a little easier on my eco-friendly soul.

The New Whole Foods in Rockville is Open and Makes Me Feel Like Cooking!

Last week I was lucky enough to go to a preview of the new Whole Foods in Rockville and see all the cool new things they have going on.

One particular area of interest to me is the new cooking area.

A large wooden counter top where they feature something new to try each week (or day I can't remember) with iPads to help you find the ingredients and cooking instructions to fit your family's needs.

Plus there are these grinders and fresh grains that you can purchase by the bulk and then grind to make your own specialty four (wheat, corn, etc).

Then there are these huge stainless steel vats of things like flavored honey, infused olive oil, and agave syrup. Grab a bottle and a cork and fill 'er up!

Definitely make a trip over there ASAP! They have a great calendar of events, unbelievable goodies in the bakery (ask for the tea-infused cakes) and facial imaging technology (in the Whole Body area) that can recommend the products they have that will best help you with your skin's needs.

All that and free parking in a garage underneath - keeping my car cool in summer and warm in winter.

Enjoy!

Janine

Disclosure: I received a goody bag of Whole Foods product during the preview though all opinions expressed here are my own and this post was not required, approved or even reviewed prior to being published.

You Don't Have to be a Hippie to like Melba Toast

The very first time I tried Old London Melba Toast I was maybe 7. My mother was going through what I can only describe as a "hippie" phase when it came to food. Out went the white bread and Twinkies and in came the brown (wheat) bread and carob chips. I have no idea who she was kidding with the carob chips since she LOVES good quality, dark chocolate as much as I do.

One of the few things she introduced that I LOVED was Melba Toast. It's light and crunchy with lots of flavor. Melba toast was great with cheese, peanut bugger, or just plain butter and jelly!

Old London has Healthy Snacks

 Old London Snacks

Recently I received three packages of Old London snacks including Bagel Crisps, Melba Snacks and good old fashion Melba Toast (no added seasoning) to try. These are great snack options for my family as they are all low in calories with no trans fat and the melba toast has whole grain.

The girls loved dipping the bagel chips and round melba snacks into hummus along with fresh carrot and celery sticks. We also found out there were a very filling snack when paired with cheese and a piece of fruit. I'm trying to cut back on my bread intake these days so I devoured them with tuna, and along side my daily salad, instead of my usual sandwich on two slices of high-calorie bread.

Want more recipes? Check out the Taste for Everyday Health website where there are all kinds of great things to try like lasagna, tiramisu and quesadilla dippers all made with Old London products!

Say Aloha with Old London when you win a trip to Hawaii

Be sure to enter the Aloha Old London Sweepstakes on Facebook where you can enter to win a trip to Ohau!

The Old London website has easy fitness tips and living healthy tips so you can enjoy Hawaii AND your new beach-ready figure. But hurry because the sweepstakes closes in June!

Then come back and let me know if you've ever tried Old London melba toast. And be sure to leave a comment telling me my mother is not the only one to went through that "hippie" phase.

Janine

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Old London and received product samples and a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate. All opinions are my own and my stories are true - my mom really did introduce me to melba toast when I was a kid during her hippie food stage. I think she also introduced me to some seaweed stuff but thankfully I blocked most of that from my memory.

Fashion Friday (on Saturday): Ballet Flats from Lindsay Phillips

The ballet flats I've been searching for

Last night I was at an event at Artisans Gallery (they have an online store - enjoy!) and fell in love with these Lindsay Phillips ballet flats:

Cute right?

SOOO comfy and go with jeans, yoga pants, trousers, skirts, you name it!

But the best part is that little flower in the middle?

It snaps off so you can change the look!

Lindsay Phillips switchflops and snaps

You can purchase Lindsay Phillips 'switch' line at Amazon as well and there are tons of snaps to choose from.

I could not help myself and had to wear them today!

Dancing in my ballet flats,

Janine

Disclosure: I was invited to a blogger event at Artisans and I did receive a gift bag but I was not required to write about the experience and I purchased these shoes as well as a few other things on my own. There will be more on the event in a future post. In addition, all opinions are my own and this post was neither reviewed nor approved by anyone prior to being published.
