Enjoy Summer in a Box of Natural Goodies

What is the first thing you think of when you think summer?

Is it the beach or the pool?

Do you think of grilling?

Well my first thought is - ice cream!

Each summer I consume great quantities of ice cream. I justify it because it's filled with calcium, vitamin D, and other good - or not-so-good things like growth hormones and antibiotics that are fed the cows who provide the milk for all that ice cream.

Since I've been trying to eat 'cleaner' and have been looking for ways to buy more organic products. When Stonyfield came to me with the Summer in a Box filled with all kinds of natural products including 2 coupons for Stonyfield Frozen Yogurt bars, I gladly said THANKS!

Not only did they give me a box, they are giving one away to a TwoferMom reader!

Enter here to win a Summer in a Box prize pack

Here's what's in the box and a little bit about each one:

Two coupons for Stonyfield Frozen Yogurt Bars in two delicious flavors: Gotta Have Vanilla, and After Dark Chocolate. These bars, made with organic milk, are dipped in rich dark chocolate, and contain four live and active cultures, keeping you and your twins healthy while enjoying a sweet treat.

Badger After-Sun Balm: A certified organic treat for sun-parched skin.

Dr. Hauschka Melissa Day Cream: a 100% natural moisturizer formulated with extracts of melissa (lemon balm), extracts of anthyllis, carrot, witch hazel and English daisy.

Tom’s of Maine:  Simply White, the first and only clinically proven natural whitening toothpaste to earn an ADA seal, The Daily Moisture Body Bar that contains premium moisturizing olive oil, natural vitamin E and leaves your skin clean and fresh, and Beautiful Earth Deodorant works to inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria.

Uncle Matt’s Organic Lemonade and Juices: By buying Uncle Matt’s fresh fruit and juice you’re helping more than 20 small growers that make up their family of farms.

Here's how you can enter:

Leave a comment telling me how you are incorporating organic into your summer routine.

That's it! Nice and easy. And maybe you'll give me some ideas to try!

Giveaway open to US and Canadian residents 18 and over and ends August 19, 2011. Winner will be notified via email so be sure to include your email in the comment form (not in the comment itself). Winner has 48 hours to respond before I choose another winner.

Good luck and thanks for entering!

Things Remembered Holiday Photo Contest and Giveaway

You may have just started back to school shopping, but I'm already thinking about the holiday!

Things Remembered has a holiday photo contest going on RIGHT NOW on Facebook where someone will win $200 and their own, cherished photo will be featured in the Things Remembered holiday campaign!

I entered this photo:

This photo was taken during the Twofer's first holiday trip to New York City...a tradition that I had always enjoyed as a child. I was so happy when we finally took them to see The Tree and the angels. It's a childhood memory that now I can share with them.

What photo will you enter into the Things Remembered Contest?

It's easy to enter (took less than 1 minute) and really got me thinking about WHY I love that photo. I'd be thrilled to have Things Remember feature it.

You can enter too. Go to the Things Remembered Facebook page and fill out the entry form and upload a photo. Plus - entering the contest means you are also entered to win Here!

Win a Things Remembered SoHo Gunmetal Frame with Engraving from TwoferMom!

One lucky reader will win the frame above with the engraving of your choice so that you can frame your favorite holiday photo! This would make for a great gift (knock Grandma off the list?) but also a special keepsake.

Here's how to enter!

Required: Enter the Things Remembered Facebook contest and leave me a comment telling me you did and your Facebook name

Optional extra entry:  Post a link to this giveaway on Twitter, and / or your own blog and leave a comment with the URL to that blog post or twitter post

Discovery Girls Magazines and Fab Girls Guide Books are Perfect for Tweens

The Twofer are turning the corner into tweendom. It's evident not in their age (8) but more in their attitude. They want more independence, they are asking difficult questions, and they are wanting to spend more time with friends than with me! (How dare they!)

Their world is getting more complicated every day. They are kids, but they want to be more grown up. They have issues with friends and they are learning to work them out. They are starting to look at themselves more and compare differences.

So when Discovery Girls asked if I would like a sample of their magazine to review I was thrilled.

Discovery Girls Magazine and Collector's Edition

The Discovery Girls issue I was sent has articles that cover everything from spending versus saving money, to shopping for your first bra. Each story has quotes from real girls discussing their experience, or how they dealt with a particular situation. The theme is that whatever you are feeling about the topic (nervous, scared, excited) it's NORMAL. If I squint my eyes and try to remember back to that age when everything around you seems like it's would be nice to read about other girls who are feeling the same way.

(The silver issue in the photo is a Collector's Edition that is filled with 10 years of Discovery Girls history from fashion to embarrassing moments to quizzes and advice.)

I was also sent a set of the Discovery Girls' Fab Girl Guides

Fab Girls Guides book collection

The Fab Girls are twins Carmen and Dallas. They are about as different from each other as night and day. The guides are written to help girls get through the difficult middle-school years and you can see by the book titles they cover everything.

How to deal with mean girls & frenemies

What do you do if you show up at school in PJs for pajama day...and it isn't pajama day?!?

How to get your mom to stop listening to your phone calls

And what it's like when a family is going through a rough time.

I was not going to let the Twofer dig into these books just yet but they picked them up before I could say anything and they haven't put them down. Some of the topics are tough...losing someone your love, being cyber bullied, having an alocholic parent. I realize this is a great opportunity to set the example that in our family we TALK about those things. If they have questions after reading a book, I will answer it. Starting the dialogue now about tough topics will hopefully show them they can come to me when they really need to.

WIN a Discovery Girls magazine subscription and Fab Girls Guide book set!

One lucky TwoferMom reader will be chosen at random to receive a Discovery Girls prize package valued at $70 including a 1-year subscription, the collector's edition, and all 4 Fab Girls books! All you have to do is enter here to win.

It's July and I've already started my Christmas shopping!

When do you start your holiday shopping?

Some of my friends think they are getting ahead by starting their shopping in September or October. But me? I start in the summer. I don't buy tons of stuff but I pick up things here and there that I just know my mother would love, or a teacher might appreciate. For the girls it's harder because they still like to make a list. I both love and hate the LIST. I love that they are still enjoying the holidays of their childhood. But I hate that making a list seems, well, spoiled. Even if they KNOW there's no way they are getting everything on that list.

What am I possibly shopping for in July?

Christmas cards! You see giving and receiving holiday cards are big for my family. Truth be told I took about 3 years off from sending cards and the number of received cards was noticably smaller (I'm going with the theory that most people rely on getting MY card to have my address). Why do we love getting Christmas cards?

Because every year we sort through the previous year's cards and use them to cut out gift tags! My mom did this with me and now my girls are enjoying it too. It can be a fun and creative way to reuse uniqe Christmas cards and it means I don't have to go out and buy tags for presents!

Here is a perfect example of a card that would be great to use for a gift tag:

You could cut out around the oval for one tag. You could cut out the MERRY CHRISTMAS and Happy New Year to make a rectangular gift tag. You could even cut out around the snowflake! What I love about this holiday tradition is that you DON'T have to be Martha Stewart to do it! You can be creative and feel crafty and not have your fingers hot-glued together. #winning

Where am I finding Christmas cards in July?

Glad you asked. Through my good friends at Global Influence I learned about and saw they have Christmas cards available right now! Can you imagine crossing THAT off your list already? I know - feels good, doesn't it? Take THAT frienzied December! I've got my cards ordered already!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post and I received compensation for helping to promote the sponsor. All opinions are my own and I really do cut out gift tags from old Christmas cards and of course the more interesting the card the better the tags!
