My Experience with Next Day Blinds In-Home Consultant Plus a Giveaway! {closed}

{update 1/31/11} Congrats to.... Workout Mommy!!!

You've won the $200 to spend at Next Day Blinds!

How do you cover your windows?

Window treatments, window coverings, blinds, shades, shutters....whatever you call it, choosing how to cover windows is no easy task. Which is why I was grateful for the opportunity to work with Next Day Blinds and one of their local in-home design consultants to choose something to cover the Twofers' windows.

Step one in choosing blinds is to narrow your choices

Next Day Blinds designer, Leslie, was incredibly helpful and explains here how she starts the process with a customer. By the way, Next Day Blinds offers in-home consultation FREE as part of their service!

As you can see, Leslie knows her windows. You will see in a future post how she saved my do-it-yourself window catastrophe and gave me a do-over that not only looks much better, it's functional and safe for the girls to be around.

Enter to win $200 to spend with Next Day Blinds!

Yearning for your own window do-over? Next Day Blinds has generously offered one reader the chance to win $200 to spend on any window covering they offer! Plus, if you live in the DC area, you too can have a designer visit your home before you order so that you don't get overwhelmed by all the choices in styles, fabrics, colors, etc.

How to enter:

You can do one or all of these for a chance to win but be sure to leave a separate comment for each and a link to a post when possible.

1. Visit the Next Day Blinds website, browse around just a bit, and leave a comment telling me which room in your home needs new window treatments and which type (blinds, shades, etc) from Next Day Blinds you are considering.

2. "LIKE" and leave a comment on the YouTube video in this post (come back and tell me your YouTube username in a comment)

3. Post the following (or something similar) on Twitter (can do once a day) and grab the URL for that tweet and leave it in a comment: " I just entered to win $200 for Next Day Blinds from @Twincident " Hint: to get the URL for a particular twitter post simply click on the timestamp (2 minutes ago..) to launch it then copy the URL from the browser.

4. Subscribe to my RSS feed and add my button to your blog (again, leave URL so I can see it)

5. Share the love... Post and link to this giveaway on your own blog so that your readers might enjoy learning about Next Day Blinds! Include a photo of the windows you want to cover for extra love. (Again, be sure to come back and leave comment with link)

Giveaway ends Friday, January 28 11:59pm ET. Giveaway is open to US residents 18 and over. Winner will be chosen using (it's the only fair way) and contacted through email so be sure to include a valid email in the comment form.

Good luck and I can't wait to hear what windows you want to treat!

Disclosure: I received a set of roman shades for the girls' room at no charge from Next Day Blinds in exchange for covering the in-home consultation and purchasing process on my blog. Leslie is THAT good as you can see in the video and I only edited the end slightly to shorten it by a few minutes. I am very impressed with the quality of the blinds which you will read about in later posts. All opinons are my own and this post was neither reviewed nor approved by Next Day Blinds prior to being published.

My living room has very odd windows and I still don't know what to do with them! I'm guessing they'll say roman shades because of the way the top hits our vents, but I like the look of the Savannah Shades on their website.

I don't think there is a room in this house that doesn't need new blinds. LOL! But, we need them most for the Dining Room. It has 10 windows. Ack! I would want something safe for the cat (and from the cat), so a consultant's help with that would be great.

My living room is in desperate need of new shades. I've been "in progress" with this project for over a year. Clearly, I need some help.

This is perfect for me! We got new windows two years ago and our windows are still bear. I know sad and ridiculous and sad. I just don't know what to pick! I live in DC area (which you) so I can have a visit from a designer! I will enter properly when I get home, hard to do all of the steps while sitting in the airport!

WOW! $200 for my windows!? I don't even know where I'd begin...we still have the (gasp!) same window coverings that were on our windows when we moved in 5 YEARS ago!!?/

I desperately need new roman shades in my living room. It's only two big windows, but I can't get off my arse to make an appt. anywhere. I just have these cheapie IKEA shades right now, and I need to get rid of them.

I liked & posted on the YouTube video with my husband's account hhc.

Oh this is FAB! I have the most basic roman shades from Lowes in most of windows because I have NO IDEA what do to! I'd use the $$ and consultation for help in our living room where I have a big picture window with NO window covering at all!!

I need blinds in the new nursery, shades in my husband's office, and shades in our living room!

January 7, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterEmily E

@Cara- Hi Cara- I'm not sure that we have blinds/shades that are 'cat proof' , but shutters or cordless shades might be an option for you. Cats find ways to get their little paws on cords as I'm sure you are aware!

I'm considering the Sequoia Wood Essence Faux Wood Blinds for my family room.

I am in desperate needs of window treatments for four different windows but the most urgent ones are in my two kids bedrooms. I'd like the Newport Roller Shades in blue

All 4 of our bedrooms still have the original horrible, cheap blinds from when we bought our house! I would love to replace them!

January 7, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterStacey

We need blinds desperately in our downstairs bedroom, which is completely bare.

January 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLorri Jeanne

The "yellow room" as we call it, could use Vinyl Shutters in Ivory

January 9, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterClaire

Well.... We are about to move and the house doesn't come with ANY window coverings so every room needs them! I would want to go with the wood blinds I think they look really nice!

January 10, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJen

My living room need wood blinds so badly after little boys who love to watch the garbagemen have destroyed my mini blinds!
