I'm not a foodie but I'm a parent and thus need to know the basics of cooking so that I can feed my children. The Mister and I could technically live on ceral but I'm guessing that would stump the growth of The Twofer.
Thankfully I discovered Ask Aida on the Food Network.
Aida gives has some great cooking suggestions and answers questions on her show. Many of her recipes are easy enough for me to try. She also likes wine.
Recently I was on a live streaming web chat with Aida and we were discussing wine pairings. Aida has teamed up with Mirassou Winery to help people figure out what wine goes with what. AND - if you know someone getting married, send them to the "I Do with Mirassou" contest page asap where they can enter to win $10,000 and a chance to meet with Aida to discuss their wedding plans!
Here's what I learned about wine from Aida:
1. we both agree (fistbump) that Reisling is great for the summer
2. if pairing wine with pork consider the sauce...heavier sauces would go well with a Pinot Noir and lighter sauce (or no sauce) would go great with a light, crisp white
3. My plastic patio wine glasses from Crate & Barrel are totally cool for chugging sipping on a cool summer night (fistbump)
If you have more questions, definitely watch Ask Aida or you can stalk find her on Twitter at @aidamollenkamp. And check out Mirassou wines (most are $10-$14) the next time you need something to sip!
Disclosure: participation in the Ask Aida web call made me eligible to win a prize pack. All opinions expressed here are mine and were not reviewd nor approved by Mirassou prior to publishing.
