Wisk High Efficiency (HE) detergent review
Friday, August 28, 2009 at 09:00AM So far I have only tried one or two brands of HE laundry detergent since getting the Frigidaire washer and dryer from Mom Central. So when I was contacted by Wisk representatives to test their HE detergent I happily agreed.
I'm still trying to figure out if it's the detergent or the washer that is doing most of the work getting the clothes cleaned and swapping out detergent is one way I can see what's really going on.
Plus, one of the first things you learn with and HE washer is that you don't need as much detergent. If you do use too much you see the suds still in there when the load is done. So, when I learned that Wisk has a whole website dedicated to High Efficiency laundry (http://laundryhe.com/) I was really interested. Not only that, they have a Twitter account (http://twitter.com/laundryhe).
Here's what I thought of the Wisk High Efficiency detergent:
PROS
Smaller bottle says it has 2x the concentration which means you can use less and the bottle will last for 32 loads
Smell was really nice and fresh.
Cleaned the Twofer's summer stained clothes well!
Cap and bottle show where to stop pouring the detergent based on the size of your load (the other brands I have didn't actually have that which is helpful when you are new to HE).
CONS
I 'think' I poured to the correct line but there were still some suds and I had to wash the load again (with no detergent added). Of course, this could be my error. I'm learning that with HE less is definitely more.
While the smaller bottle saves on plastic, Wisk HE does contain ingredients that are not environmentally friendly.
What's your favorite HE laundry detergent?
