Piggy Paint - Nail Polish and Remover Just for Kids
Monday, August 10, 2009 at 09:00AM
The Twofer were about 2 1/2 years old the first time I painted their toenails. There was a reason I did their toes...I didn't want them eating the chemicals in the nail polish (and by 2 we were safely out of the toe-sucking age).
Piggy Paint doesn't eat plates
It turns out the founder of Piggy Paint had a similar feeling about traditional kid nail polish and her fears were put to the test when a drop landed on a foam plate. What happened? The foam started to bubble and 'ate' through the plate! She tested all the other 'kid' polished in her house and the same thing happend each time. And that is what inspired her to make Piggy Paint.
Pros:
Piggy Paint is water-based, oderless, and made of natural ingredients. It goes on smooth and dries quickly. It's non-flammable, non-toxic, and doesn't eat through foam plates!
Cons:
The paint did chip easily but I re-read the directions and it says to use a hair dryer immediately so that may help. Also, Piggy Paint is a little pricy at $9.99 per bottle ($26.50 for a 3-pack) but it is a full-size bottle (not a mini bottle like many other "kid-friendly" polish) and it's safe.
Twofer give it 2 Painted Thumbs Up!
The girls are thrilled to have a bottle of nail polish that I will even let them to use all on their own next time. I'm not concerned about the chemicals, or them spilling it because it doesn't have a harsh smell (newspaper underneath of course). And we also have the Piggy Paint Remover (again: safe, natural, odorless, hypo-allergenic, and biodegradable!) which means they can remove their old polish...and maybe even mine.
I'm thinking a set of nail polish and remover would make a great birthday gift or stocking stuffer.
What do you think?
