Review: Marie Callander's Home-Style Creations are a perfect working lunch
Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10:54AM These days I don't give myself a lot of time for lunch. With two jobs and a blog I use my lunchtime to read through the daily HAROs, stumble a few posts I like, or chat briefly on Twitter (aka: the water cooler from work from home folks like me).
So when I received a few samples of Marie Callander's new Home-Style Creations I was intrigued.
Marie Callander's offers Freshly cooked pasta, not frozen
The first thing I noticed is that these are not your typical frozen meals. They come in small safe-for-the-pantry containers with dry noodles or in one of the samples it was stuffing. You add the water, click the lid back on and microwave it for a few minutes, so it's fresh, not frozen! The sauce packet can be warmed up separately in just 30 seconds. Mix them both up, grab an apple and some water and lunch is served!

I also tried the Creamy Parmesan Chicken which was really nice too.
Pros:
Quick, easy and tasty lunch to have at your desk
Tastes fresher than frozen meals I've had
At around $3.50 each this is cheaper than ordering a sandwich at the deli.
Cons:
Higher sodium content than I'd like but it didn't taste too salty.
Portion size was fine but you need to supplement with salad or fresh fruit for a more balanced meal and to keep you satisfied longer.
For more information head to the Marie Callandar's website and look for the Home-Style Creations in the pasta or soup aisle!
