I know everyone is anxious about finding out if they make the registration.

I'm thinking if it's in the cards, then I make it. If not, then I rebook my airfare.

Yes, I purchased airfare already around the conference dates. Flights were affordable, I had a coupon to use on AirTran, and I figured, if I don't make the conference, I've at least got flights to Orlando that I can rebook for $75 each or head to Disney and stalk the conference! (Kidding - this is NOT a suggestion that anyone stalk the conference).

So, today's

QUESTION: Have you done anything to prepare for the Disney Social Media Moms conference not even knowing if you are definitely in?

#DisneySMMoms Question of the Day 12/1/10

Let's discuss for a minute the whole Princess experience. Our first trip to Disney I was shocked to see all these little girls dolled up in Disney Princess dresses, fancy pony tails and glitter in their hair!

At first it seemed really impractical. I mean, how can those little girls go on any rides? And then, we wandered into the store...GASP! The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique offers a range of services that cost $49.99 - $189.95. Um - that's what I spend on MY hair! Which leads to today's...

QUESTION: Have you ever given in and gone all out with a special surprise at Disney like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Botique?

Today is a day to reflect on everything we are thankful for...including the opportunity to participate in the Disney Social Media Moms conference. Last year I was so grateful I hugged every single person in the hospitality suite when I first got there. The Disney PR staff and Cooper Munroe can verify.

I was thrilled to hear social media gurus Chris Brogan and Guy Kawasaki speak. I mean, when would I get that opportunity again?

I was inspired by the stories of these amazing business women: Marissa Jaret Winokur, Maxine Clark , and Kathy Ireland. As well as hearing from Walt Disney World Resorts president, Meg Crofton.

And after a weekend of thinking "Holy Cow. My kids have NO IDEA what a 'normal' trip to Disney is like" they were put to work filling bags of toiletries and other necessities, as well as planting small trees. Disney totally 'gets' the idea of balance!

image of autograph book via the Disney Store - buy one!

So with all that in mind, here is today's

QUESTION: If you could nominate a deserving family (not your own) to experience Disney World, who would that be and why?

Me?

I would nominate my sitter, Suzette. For three years she came to my house every Tuesday and Thursday through wind, sleet and snow (and sun too) to help me with my twins. She was more than a part-time nanny. She was nuturing, loving, calm, understanding, and a voice of reason when I was just too exhausted from lack of sleep. She was the one constant in those crazy days of no sleep when the twins were just a few weeks old and I had recently buried my father.

She's a window which means she's a single mom. She raised her three girls to be kind, loving, and strong. She's now helping her brother to raise two neices who were all but abandoned by their mother. And yet she always finds time to help others. She rarely gets back to Jamaica to see her family, but she is collecting things for needy kids there, and trying to find a way to ship it all back (customs costs are astronomical).

In short, she deserves a night in Cinderella's Castle, and a week at the most magical place in the world.

Maybe Disney would consider a buy one, give one promotion...

Happy Thanksgiving again, and I'm thankful to be able to share all of my daily #DisneySMMoms questions with you!

I have one memory of my trip to Disney World from when I was 5 years old. That memory was of entering the new Contemporary hotel and riding the Monorail. It was so futuristic - a train in a hotel?!?!

I used to think back to that memory and part of me felt like I had only dreamt it up.

That is, until last year's Disney Social Media Moms Celebration when I, once again, rode the monorail into the Contemporary. I was as giddy as a 5 year old! This brings me to today's

QUESTION: What is your favorite mode of transport while at Disney? Magical Bus, Monorail, or the riverboats?

image of Polaroid camera via Arty Smokes on Flickr

Me? I'm still mulling this one over.

It can be hard to carry two bulky cameras around Disney. On one hand, I want to fully enjoy the experience and the rides and not worry about losing a camera or deal with getting the family to pose. On the other hand, it's a crime NOT to take photos to keep as memories. Also, my mom would never forgive me. But I think if I had to choose, I'd go with still photos. We took some great video - even on some of the rides! But still photos are classic.
