Do as I say, not as I do

The other day the Twofer were playing around and wrote a bunch of letters and delivered them to The Mister and myself.

Here's one I found particularly frightening amusing...

Here's a translation in the event you can't read her chicken scratch that she gets from her father handwriting:

Hello Janine,

How is twitter going so far

it is going good for me. Anyways

my taxes are going crazy I

have them all over my floor

really it is a mess. Also I wish

you an happy and unforgetable

Easter! Love, Linda

As I've learned, there's nothing better to reveal your defects of character than having a child.

Has this ever happened to you?

Janine

PS: Not correcting the punctuation and grammar is killing me.

Cross-Post: Someone thinks I'm an expert! Join me Friday 5/8 9-10pm for Mamapedia Twitter party

The original post is on Twofer Thumbs Up...

I have been asked by Resourceful Mommy to participate in a Twitter party this Friday to celebrate the launch of a new parenting resource AND as the parties twins/multiple 'expert'! (You can laugh, but not too hard. I have feelings.)

What is Mamapedia?

Mamapedia is a new parenting information site that takes the wisdom of thousands and thousands of moms and makes it searchable! You can head to the computer with that screaming infant in your arms and type,

"Why does my baby cry so much at night?"

And this is what you'll find - an article about a mom who asked a question titled "Sleepless Nights with a 13 week old" and the responses of forty-four moms.

When and how to party Twitter-style?

First, RSVP at Resourceful Mommy and check out the Momfluence network.

Then, join us on Twitter this Friday, May 8th, from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. eastern time along with mom experts (that's me) in a variety of parenting areas.

Follow me, @twincident as well as @ResourcefulMom and even the other participants to get all the tweets!

During the party go to search.twitter.com (and type in #mamapedia or just use that link) to follow along with all the partiers. When you tweet, be sure to put #mamapedia somewhere in your 140 characters so all the other people know you are part of the party!

Hope you can make it!

A slice of apple pie to celebrate 400 followers on twitter!

This one's for you twitter friends!

My grandmother's famous recipe for apple pie, including home made crust.
Please note: there is an element of trial and error here.
Sometimes the apples are really juicy. Sometimes you need to add more oil to the dough. It's a lot of eyeballing, getting a feel for consistency, and learning more, the more pies you bake.

Enjoy and PLEASE come back and let me know how your pies turned out!
And extra credit (vanilla ice cream) if you digg, stumble, or kirtsy, this post.

Crust
Stir together:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt

Chill then mix with fork until creamy:
1/2 cup oil (safflower or Mazola)
1/4 cup milk
Pour over flour mixture all at once and stir with fork until blended
If dough is too dry add tbsp of oil (oil is key)

Bottom Crust
Roll 2/3 of dough between 2 sheets waxed paper
Make sure to roll out bubbles and even thickness (approx. 1/4 inch)

Remove top piece of wax paper and invert the crust and press lightly into pie pan
Remove the second piece of wax paper, press evenly up, and just slightly over edges of pan (you can "patch" any holes with remnants of dough)

Apples
Peel core and slice 6 cups of apples
Mix 1/2 cup white sugar with 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
(if you use tart apples add more sugar)
Add
1 tbsp tapioca or cornstarch (juicy apples
require more)
1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp vanilla
You should have about 1/4 cup of liquid at bottom of bowl (if not, add tbsp water)
Mix gently and place in pie shell
Dot with butter or margarine

Top Crust:
Roll remaining 1/3 dough and cut strips for top
Strips are crisscrossed at an angle like this:

Or place as a solid piece and cut out holes for steam like this:

Pinch together edges of top and bottom crusts.

Bake at 450 for 10 minutes
Reduce heat to 350 and bake for 35-45 minutes until bubbly

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Hi my name is ScaryMom and I'm a twitteraholic...

I've had big plans for blog posts, product reviews, and really great jump-in-the-leaves photos. I have, however, been slightly distracted by the election, and twitter.

Actually, Tuesday night I hardly watched the election on TV - because twitter was way more interesting!

Don't worry, I stopped long enough to drink in Obama's victory, the speeches, and the fact that history was made. But then it was back to my tweeple, and their tweets. Srsly (seriously) - I'm learning a whole new language and that means writing in under 140 characters.

I think I'm starting to talk in 140 characters.

So tomorrow I will limit my tweeting to certain hours. And I'm going to tell my tweeple that now, so that I stick to it.

Here's to more productive days.
Twitter, I'll miss you. But this is best for both of us.
