Another Clue... Disney Rocks the Pre-Conference Chatter

The folks in charge of conference planning and social media over at Walt Disney World have done it again. Not only are they planning another spectacular conference, they are releasing clues about it via Twitter.

And Twitter is all a buzz.

I'm especially excited to be going again this year to the Disney Social Media Moms conference, but even if I wasn't, I would still be enjoying the clues and figuring out what is in store.

Take a look at the latest reveal:

Here's the accompanying tweet:

We've gone Hollywood today - only 14 more days 'til . Need directions? A map? Get 'em here!

Can you guess what fun things they have planned?

Fun Before the Fun Has Started

I have to say, as much fun as it is to try and guess, it's just as much fun knowing there are a bunch of surprises in store for us when we get there! And this is exactly how Disney excels. It's one thing to consistently plan a conference that is filled with amazing experiences. And yet the Disney team keeps reaching. This game of revealing clues keeps us guessing and talking about the conference in an entirely new way. It's about having fun way before the real fun has even started!

Learn From the Masters

I'm excited about the lineup of speakers Disney has planned for us during the conference. I'm also thrilled to have the opportunity to learn about customer service, word-of-mouth marketing, and how to incorporate FUN into a project from the folks at Disney. Every time I'm invited to a Disney event I make mental notes of things I want to use in my own line of work. Things that will motivate people to share ideas. Things that will keep people excited. Things that keep the focus on the positive.

As much as I plan to enjoy this experience, I also plan to learn.

I'll be at the Disney Social Media Moms conference May 9-12 and yes, I believe we can all expect a fabulous Mother's Day! We have NOT told the Twofer. I'm not sure how I'll pull another Disney Surprise on them or when we'll do the big reveal but you can bet I'm getting ideas from the masters of surprise at Disney!

Disney as an Adults-Only Destination... YES!

Today we are snuggled in just waiting to lose power while hurricane Sandy approaches.

But just a week ago I was at Walt Disney World to preview the New Fantasyland, and I'm channeling those warm memories as I write this.

I was invited for a media tour of the New Fantasyland expansion that has taken place in Magic Kingdom. I was invited to bring the family but we just couldn't work it out with our schedules.

So, I went alone.

It was awwwwesome! (I totally sang that)

I was actually down there with a group of bloggers, many of whom I've had the chance to get to know over the years and others I had the pleasure to get to know. You see most of them couldn't work it out to bring their families and we realized...

We could go on all the roller coasters our kids refuse to go on!

Like the Rockin Roller Coaster!

Partay like Rock Stars at Hollywood Studios dude.

We also realized it was the International Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT.

If this isn't the best reason to visit Disney without kids, than I don't know what is.

Yummy Mummy Drink

All of the countries have exotic food offerings and unique drinks that range in price between $5 and $15.

It was such a fun way to experience Disney. Something very new to me and something I want to do again with my husband and possibly for a girl's weekend.

Who's in??

Of course the highlight was being able to be one of the firsts to experience the New Fantasyland. But that needs a post all to itself.

For now, start planning your adult Disney trip and let me know if you need any tips.

18 Summers

This year I couldn't make the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration - a conference where Disney celebrates the influence of digital parents, treats them to a speaker series unlike any other (think Peter Shankman, Chris Brogan, Maxine Clark, the woman who started Build-A-Bear, and many other great minds), then lets attendees and their families explore the parks and enjoy unique entertainment.

It's Magical.

I feel like I'm getting 1st Class treatment every time I'm with Disney whether it's when we took our twins for their 6th birthday, visiting with the conference, or at a local Disney event.

Through the Disney SM Moms conference (search for posts on Twitter, Instagram, Google+ with this hashtag #DisneySMMoms) we learn what new attractions Disney has in store at various parks, and learn about other Disney properties including the line of cruise ships and vacation properties. (think Hawaii).

Disney is the King when it comes to customer service and creating magical, bonding moments for me and my family.

It is no surprise that Disney is the one who woke me up to the fact that I only have 18 summers with my children. I know not every summer can include a visit to Disney, but I can be sure to create my own magic.

Then I realized…my twins are 9. I only have 9 more summers with them!

This summer will be a little different.

Instead of 5 weeks of camp, the girls are enrolled in 2 weeks.

Instead of work being the focus for the next 3 months, I'm fitting work in around our play schedule.

I have purchased a few Groupon deals and have marked the calendar (in pen) the days where we'll visit the adventure park, the bowling alley, and other sites where we bought deals. (Buying the ticket ahead of time via Groupon or some other discount site makes it harder to blow off a day of play. The tickets have been purchased. We have to go!)

I will be working while on vacation, but I have limited it severely. (Admittedly I still can't bring myself to set that email vacation responder for fear of lost opportunity. Baby steps.)

I am 'considering' adding a responder that says "during the summer break I may take more than 24 hours to respond to an email but I will get to it, I promise" or something to alert people so they are aware in case they are trying to reach me for something urgent.

Have you considered that we only have 18 summers with our children? Have you thought about how you might make changes to make the most of them?

And - I'd love to know who's going to Disney!

BIG Changes Coming to Disney World

As a lucky blogger who was invited to attend the Disney Summer Social event in Baltimore I received more than some fancy Disney swag.

I got the cutest USB with all the inside information about changes coming to the home of my favorite mouse!

Fantasyland Expansion

I'm a huge fan of Magic Kingdom and especially Fantasyland with so many must-do rides including Dumbo, Peter Pan, and It's a Small World. The news that Fantasyland is going to nearly double is just a little exciting for me. Dumbo will now have two carousels and interactive games in the queue, making waiting to ride will be nearly as much fun as the ride itself!

Two new rides will take guest through Ariel's world, undersea and above, and through the Seven Dwarfs mine.

Brand New Art of Animation Resort

A new Disney resort hotel is under construction that is built around various themes of animation. This resort will have suites that can fit multiple generations of family members comfortably in rooms that bring to life favorite Disney movies including Cars, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo.

This would be a great option for a trip we take with my mom and my brother and his family.

When will all this new stuff be completed? Some of it as early as 2012 but be sure to read the Disney Parks Blog for updates, sneak peeks, photos and videos of all that's new with Disney!

Disclosure: I was not compensated to write this post but I was invited to attend a Summer Social with Disney at the Hyatt in Baltimore. We enjoyed lunch, activities, and a good bag filled with Disney treats. All opinions are my own and this post was neither reviewed nor approved prior to being published.

Disney Does VIP Drinks and Ears fit for a Royal Wedding

Last week I had the pleasure of seeing some old and new friends at an event in Baltimore with Disney.

In perfect Disney fashion we were treated with first-class service. A chance to connect, catch up, learn a little more about what's new in Disney parks (like the Star Wars ride that is calling my name), and enjoy some Disney magic.

What I love most about a Disney vacation is that Disney knows how to always make you feel special. Whether it's the vacation deals that rotate every year, the helpful staff at every hotel, even the concept of a Fast Pass - everyone gets a Fast Pass with a park ticket, but when your turn is up to ride, you feel special heading to the Fast Pass line!

So when I saw this drink machine I giggled. (I put the ears on it)

Even the girls had to ask me,

"So Mom, we just open it and take a drink?"

I think they had been looking for a slot to put the money. Sure, drinks can be displayed any number of ways - in pitchers, in tubs, or by a server. But the simple idea of being able to open what looks like a private soda machine and grab a juice or water makes you FEEL special.

These are the little ways Disney spreads magic time and time again.

I'll write another post on some of the new things to experience with Disney but for now enjoy these photos from the event.
